The people of the Quran are in the VIP list, earning a special love from Allah subhana wa ta’ala. If we want to be in this list, then let us connect with the Quran through these 5 ways:
1. Listening & reading the Quran.
Make a daily schedule & allocate some time to read the Quran, even if we still stutter or falter in our recitation. The Prophet ﷺ gave us an encouragement by saying: “…the one who falters when reciting the Quran & finds it difficult for him, will have a double reward (i.e. the reward of the recitation & for experiencing the difficulty.” [Al-Bukhari & Muslim]

2. Contemplating & understanding its meanings.
One of the great companions, Ibn Mas’ood (may Allah be pleased with him), advised that whenever we come across Allah’s Words in the Quran of “O you who believe”, then pay close attention. Because what will follow after these ayaat is always a commandment from Allah – either something good that we need to do, or a prohibition that we need to stay away from.

3. Acting upon what Allah says in the Quran.
After we have contemplated & understand its meanings, then apply these Commandments in our everyday lives & steer away from what has been prohibited.

4. Using the Quran as a book of law to resolve problems.
Allah says: “And in anything over which you disagree, its ruling is [to be referred] to Allah…” [Q 42:10] If we have disagreements – such as inheritance, marriage, divorce, etc – then return to the Quran & authentic hadith of the Prophet ﷺ . But please don’t become those who only use the Quran when it benefits them & abandon the Quran when it’s against them.

5. Using the Quran as means of cure.
The Quran is not just medicine for the soul but also for the illnesses of the body. Allah says: “We send down the Quran as a healing & mercy for the believers.” [Q 17:82]

Remember that the Prophet ﷺ said that Allah has a group whom He is close to, whom He has a special love for: “They are the people of the Quran, they are the ones whom Allah is close to & loves.” [Ibn Majah]
