🔵 There was a man who came to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and said: “O Messenger of Allah, indeed, the legislated acts of Islam have become too much for me, so inform me of a thing that I should stick to.” Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “Let not your tongue cease to be moist with the remembrance of Allah.” [At-Tirmidhi 3375 | Graded Hasan]

The man said to the Prophet ﷺ that there are so many voluntary acts of worship in Islam, so he asked for one good deed that he could hold on tightly to – something easy, but very rewarding. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ replied:
“Let not your tongue cease to be moist with the remembrance of Allah.” Meaning, do the dzikr of Allah continuously as much as we possibly can.

Brothers and sisters, when we do the remembrance of Allah, let us follow the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as much as possible. Consider the following 2 ahadith:

🔵 The Prophet ﷺ said that Allah says: “I am with My servant when he remembers Me and his lips move saying My Name.” [Sahih Ibn Majah 3792]
Allah says “…his lips move saying My Name”. So move our lips when we do remembrance of Allah. Don’t do the dzikr of Allah silently without moving our lips.

🔵 Prophet Muhammad ﷺ also said: “Call upon Allah with certainty that He will answer you. Know that Allah will not answer the supplication of a heart that is unmindful and distracted.” [At-Tirmidhi 3479 | Graded Hasan by Al-Albani]
When we do the remembrance of Allah while moving our lips, we must also recite sincerely from the heart. Allah does not accept the du’a as well as the dzikr of someone who is not paying attention while doing so, and not aware of what he / she is saying.

Brothers and sisters in Islam, know that shaytan will do whatever it takes to make us forget Allah. Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala says in the Qur’an:
🔵 “Shaytan has taken hold of them, causing them to forget the remembrance of Allah. They are the party of Shaytan. Surely Shaytan’s party is bound to lose.” [Surah Al-Mujadilah 58: 19]

May Allah protect us from becoming members of Shaytan’s party, but make us those who are successful in this world and hereafter, ameen.
