Through the revelation from Allah subhana wa ta’ala, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ knew that there will be a time in the future where Muslims will abandon the Sunnah.

🔵 He ﷺ said: ❝I have surely been given the Qur’an and something like it along with it (i.e. the sunnah). Soon the time will come when a man will recline on his couch, saying:
“Only follow the Qur’an, make lawful what you find in it as lawful, and outlaw what you find in it as unlawful.”
Beware! The domestic donkey, beasts of prey with fangs, (and) a find belonging to confederate, unless its owner does not want it, are impermissible to you.❞ [Sahih Abi Dawud 4604]

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that there will be people in the future who will say “Just stick with the Qur’an” but without taking the authentic ahadith. Look also what he ﷺ said in the same hadith – that domestic donkeys and beasts of prey with fangs are not halal for us to eat. It is from the wisdom of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to mention these things in the same hadith, because these specific details are not mentioned in the Qur’an.

Brothers and sisters, how do we pray? The exact way to pray is also not mentioned in the Qur’an. But Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
🔵 ❝Pray as you have seen me praying.❞ [Sahih Al-Bukhari 5662 & Sahih Muslim 674]

We learn how to pray from the sunnah. Alhamdulillah, without Prophet Muhammad ﷺ teaching us, none of us would know how to pray.

Above all, Allah subhana wa ta’ala commanded Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in the following ayah:
🔵 ❝Say (O Muhammad ﷺ to mankind): If you (really) love Allah, then follow me; Allah will love you and forgive your sins. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.❞ [Ali Imran 3 : 31]

So brothers and sisters, always hold tightly to both the Qur’an and the Sunnah. May Allah make us among those who love to follow the sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, ameen.
