Allah says:
“To Allah ˹alone˺ belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. He creates whatever He wills. He blesses whoever He wills with daughters, and blesses whoever He wills with sons. Or grants both, sons and daughters ˹to whoever He wills˺, and leaves whoever He wills infertile. He is indeed All-Knowing, Most Capable.” [Surah Ash-Shuraa 42 : 49-50]

Imam Ibn Kathir wrote in his tafsir that Imam Al-Baghawi (may Allah have mercy on them both) said:
“Allah blesses whoever He wills with (only) daughters” like Prophet Lut.
“and blesses whoever He wills with (only) sons” like Prophet Ibrahim.
“Or grants both sons and daughters” like Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
“and leaves whoever He wills infertile (with no children)” like Prophets Yahya and ‘Isa – peace be upon them all.

Allah says that there are 4 scenarios when it comes to having children. Either He subhanahu wa ta’ala gives only girls, or all boys, or both boys and girls, or He chooses certain couples to not be able to have children.
Which of these scenarios is the best?
The answer is: Whatever Allah chooses for you, because what He chooses for you is that which is good for you.
