Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala says in the Qur’an that He loves As-Sabirin, those who are patient.
.
What does sabr (patience) mean in the Islamic context? It means to stop or to withhold, and it comes in 3 aspects:

✔️ for our hearts not to lose hope in Allah,
✔️ for our tongues not to complain about Allah,
✔️ for our limbs and bodies not to be used for haram matters.
.
So with this definition framed in mind, when is it okay for us to lose sabr? The answer is: Never. It will never be okay to lose our sabr in the above context. Meaning, it will never be okay to lose hope in Allah, or to complain about Allah, or to use our bodies in sinful matters.
.
Imam Ibn Rajab, may Allah have mercy on him, said that patience is of 3 types:

✔️ Patience in obeying Allah,
✔️ Patience in refraining from that which Allah has prohibited,
✔️ Patience in accepting the decree of Allah when it is hurtful (meaning during calamity and hardship). [Lata’if al-Ma’arif] .
The most important patience is actually patience in obeying Allah. The patience to establish the 5 daily prayers on time, the patience to wake up for Fajr even if we’re still sleepy, the patience to fast in Ramadhan, the patience to practice haya’ / modesty, and so on – even if our friends, community and society are not doing it. Brothers and sisters, the biggest victory a Muslim can ever achieve in this world is when he / she has a good relationship with Allah consistently.
.
And Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala says: ❝Only those who endure patiently will be given their reward without limit.❞ [Az-Zumar 39 : 10] .
The rewards for those who are patient are infinite! It is open-ended, just like how our patience should be open-ended and never comes to an end.
.
We ask Allah to make us among As-Sabirin. Ameen.
