Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala says that He loves Al-Muttaqeen 3 times in the Qur’an.
.
What does taqwa mean? Taqwa comes from the word ‘wiqaayah’, which means ‘protection’. So when I say “Ittaqi”, it means “Protect yourself”. And when I say “Ittaqi al-korona”, it means “Protect yourself from the coronavirus” – and so for example, you wear a mask as a barrier between yourself and the virus.
.
So when we say “Ittaqillah”, then it basically means: Put between you and Allah’s wrath a barrier. What is that barrier that can protect us from Allah’s Punishments? It is obedience to Allah in what He has commanded us to do, and stay away from things that He has prohibited us from. The more we obey His Commandments, and the more we stay away from His Prohibitions, the greater the barrier will be, the greater the taqwa will be.
.
And Allah commanded us to have as much taqwa of Him as possible:
🔵 ❝O believers! Have taqwa of Allah as much as He deserves…❞ [Ali Imran 3 : 102]
.
Taqwa is not only a means of protecting ourselves from Allah’s anger, it is also a means of attaining Allah’s aid.
.
Allah says in the Qur’an:
🔵 ❝…Whoever has taqwa of Allah, He (Allah) will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty), and provide for them from sources they could never imagine…❞ [At-Talaq 65 : 2]
.
This is a promise of Allah for those who have taqwa of Him.
May Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala increase our taqwa, and make us among those whom He calls Al-Muttaqeen. Ameen.
