Brothers and sisters, have you ever had a major disagreement between loved ones or friends over something that was actually very trivial? Know that one of the things that shaytan will never give up on is to cause conflicts between the servants of Allah.

🔵 Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “The shaytan has given up trying to get those who are committed to prayers to worship anyone other than Allah. However, he has not given up on spreading hatred and enmity among them.” [Sahih At-Tirmidhi 1937]

Shaytan won’t give up on causing problems and bad assumptions between us, even among the companions against Prophet Muhammad ﷺ! One time, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was walking at night with his wife, Safiyya – may Allah be pleased with her. There were two companions who passed them by, and when they noticed that the Prophet ﷺ was walking with a woman at night, the two companions started to walk away quickly.

So Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said to them: “Walk calmly, this is Safiyya, daughter of Huyyay (meaning: take it easy, for this woman I’m walking with is my wife).”

The two men said: “Subhana Allah, o Messenger of Allah! (meaning: we would never think bad about you, Prophet of Allah!)”

🔵 Then Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “Shaytan circulates in the body of man like the circulation of blood, and I was afraid lest it should instil any evil in your heart.” [Sahih Muslim 2175a]

Shaytan whispers negative and evil, convincing thoughts in our minds, and as a result we end up acting upon it. This was why Prophet Muhammad ﷺ wanted to explain about his situation to the two men, in order to dispel any evil whisper that may came from shaytan.

If shaytan tried to make it seem that the Prophet ﷺ was doing something wrong in the eyes of the companions, then what does it say about us all?

So brothers and sisters, seek refuge with Allah from shaytan whenever baseless assumptions enter our minds. May Allah protect us from the whispers of shaytan that seek to cause conflicts between one another, ameen.
