Do you know about one of the most beautiful traits of Prophet Dawood ‘alayhi salaam?
It was his voice.
Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala says in the Qur’an: “And indeed We bestowed grace on Dawood from Us (saying): ‘O you mountains. Glorify (Allah) with him! And you birds (also)…!” [Sabaa’ 34:10]
When Prophet Dawood ‘alayhi salaam made dhikr of Allah, even the creatures around him would pause to listen and recite along with him, because his voice was so beautiful, ma shaa Allah!
And do you know that it is also one of the sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to recite the Qur’an in a beautiful voice?
He ﷺ said: “Beautify the Qur’an with your voices.” [Sunan Abu Dawood]
And he ﷺ also said: “Whoever does not recite Qur’an in a nice voice is not from us.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari]
So when we read the Qur’an, make sure we read with tajweed, and focus on the pronunciation – this also includes when we read the Qur’an in our prayers. Recite with a nice voice as much as we can for the sake of Allah alone. When we read the Qur’an in a beautiful manner, it will impact our hearts foremost, and make others enjoy listening to the Qur’an and soften their hearts as well – in shaa Allah.
May Allah make us people who love to recite and contemplate on the Qur’an, and allow us to hear the beautiful recitation of Prophet Dawood in Jannah one day, Allahumma ameen.
