Every single day, Iblis, the chief of the shayaatin, sends his soldiers to destroy our iman & cause destruction among us.
.
It’s recorded in Sahih Muslim 2813, that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that Iblis gathers his troops to see what damage they’ve done. One shaytan comes & says: “I have influenced a person to do such & such sin.” But Iblis doesn’t find this impressive enough & says: “You’ve done nothing!” until one shaytan comes & says: “I did not let go of this man (meaning, this process took a long time!) until I was able to separate (divorce) him from his wife.” When Iblis hears about this, he embraces that shaytan & says: “You have done well!” Indeed, the greater the destruction a shaytan does, the greater the recognition that shaytan will get from their master – Iblis.
.
Brothers and sisters, know that shaytan will do whatever it takes to ruin healthy, good marriages. Iblis has thousands of years of experience, and he knows that breaking a family apart makes his job of destroying every one of them a lot easier. There are so many studies from experts in the field that have proven the severe negative effects of a broken family.
.
So what can we do to protect our marriage? There are a lot of things that we can do, but I will share with you 2 of those:
🔵 Number 1: When one of us gets angry, immediately say “A’udzu billahi min ash-shaytan.” Say this sincerely, and mean every word. Beg to Allah to protect us from shaytan, from saying or doing things that we will regret.
.
🔵 Number 2: Focus on the good qualities that your spouse has, and show them appreciation. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “A believing man does not despise a believing woman. If he finds something in her character he dislikes, he will be pleased by something else.” [Sahih Muslim 1468b]. Both the wives and husbands are not perfect, so focus on the positive, and show appreciation for it through kind words and behaviour. To the husbands and wives – use those hearts and flowers emoji to your spouse! It’s such a simple gesture, but can go a long way, in shaa Allah!
.
Always focus on the positive, and live a life of gratitude with one another. May Allah protect and bless our marriage and families, ameen.
