How often do we say this and help our family?
“I’ll sweep the floor.”
“I’ll do the dishes.”
“Let me help with the cooking.”
“Do you need help with that? I got you.”
.
Serving our family is an act of ‘ibadah that is frequently trivialized, especially if it is done by men. But check out this hadith:
🔵 Someone asked ‘Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her: What did the Prophet ﷺ use to do at home? She replied: “He (ﷺ) used to keep himself busy serving his family, and when it was time for the prayer, he would leave to pray.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari 6039]
.
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was the epitome of manhood, the greatest man of all men, the most beloved servant of Allah subhana wa ta’ala, the most respected by his companions and community – and yet when it comes to his family, he served them, helped them, gave them undivided attention as much as possible. Serving the family is a sunnah, because the Prophet ﷺ himself served his family. Serving the family is in and of itself an act of worship that is rewarded by Allah.
.
May Allah make us a family unit that loves, respects, and helps one another, ameen.
