I was invited to a conference, many years ago, as one of the speakers on a Saturday morning. I decided to attend the Friday night’s session to listen to lectures by other speakers, as well as to see how the atmosphere was.
I remember, until this day, how amazing and impactful that Friday night’s lecture was, maa shaa Allah. I was happy for the speaker and the attendees, but I became worried about my lecture the next morning 😊
While I had already prepared my notes, I knew I had to make some adjustments so I could match that same energy and impact as that speaker. I needed a miracle — and indeed, Allah gives us miracles in life.
I knew that one of the most efficient ways for me to refine, edit, and adjust my lecture in a short time is to stay up after Fajr, and work on that project. Why do I say this? Because the Prophet ﷺ once made du’a to Allah, saying:
🔵 “O Allah, bless my ummah (nation) during the early hours of the day.” [Abi Dawud 2606 | Graded Authentic by Al-Albani]
From Allah’s barakah, that one hour we stayed up after Fajr may be more impactful and meaningful than those four or five hours we stayed up at night.
The prophet ﷺ would typically send out his army when needed during the early hours of the day.
So don’t sleep after Fajr. And don’t stay up late the night before, so you could pull an all-nighter either. Aim for those early hours after Fajr instead.
The narrator of this Prophetic statement was a businessman. He took the prophet's advice and started working right at the beginning of the day; as a result, he became very wealthy.
May Allah grant barakah in our time and in every good thing that we do.
