Prophet Ibrahim ‘alayhi salaam spoke kindly, respectfully when he made da’wah to his father and his people. In his da’wah, he used logic, science, faith, and fitrah. He tried everything, literally did everything he could to make them turn to Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala – until everyone went against him and threw him into the fire. It was then that he ‘alayhi salaam said these famous words:
حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ
“Allah is Sufficient for us and He is the Best Disposer (of affairs for us)”. [Sahih Al-Bukhari]
This is true tawakkul on Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala.
Tawakkul means we take all the permissible means, we do all the permissible hard work that we can, while having full faith and yaqeen that Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala will help us achieve what is good for us.
Do you trust the doctor to fix your cars?
Do you trust the mechanic to prescribe your medicine?
Of course we don’t, because we only refer to the experts of that particular domain.
Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala says:
“Allah is the Creator of all things, and He is the Maintainer of everything.” [Surah Az-Zumar 39 : 62]
Allah says He is the Creator and the Maintainer of everything – so trust Him! Trust Him to ease our sadness, all of our concerns, all of our worries, and help our future. No matter where our problem is, know that Allah is the Rabb of the East and the West. But take all the permissible means that we can.
May Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala make us among those who have true tawakkul upon Him. Allahumma ameen.
