Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
🔵 “The best of you is the best to his family, and I am the best of you to my family.” [Sahih At-Tirmidhi]

Have you ever wondered why Prophet Muhammad ﷺ told us about how he treated his family in this hadith? Why did he ﷺ not stop at just: “The best of you is the best to his family”?

Brothers, do not be fooled to think that manhood means to be tough on women. A true, real man is not someone who is the kindest, the most generous, the most understanding person to his community or to the whole world, yet gets physically, verbally, and emotionally abusive when he is at home; someone who cannot say nice words or even smile at his wife.

Do you know that, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to call ‘Aishah as ‘Aish (may Allah be pleased with her)? [Sahih Al-Bukhari 3768] It is a sunnah to give your wives a sweet nickname that they love. And today, we are blessed with technology and instant messages, so use those flower / heart emojis in our conversations with them!

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was the greatest man, the one who feared Allah the most – and yet he ﷺ was the kindest, and the best to his wives. This is what a true man is. So if we truly want to be among the greatest men, then follow his ﷺ footsteps – and that includes taking care of our relationships with our spouses and family.
May Allah bless our families and reunite us all in the highest level of Jannah, ameen.
