Sincere Charity That Reached The Wrong Hands | Ep 1 | Stories Narrated By The Prophet ﷺ

Would you feel sad if you realise that the money you sincerely donated reached the wrong person? Let me share with you an incredible story narrated by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ that gives us an amazing insight regarding charity for the sake of Allah.

One day, there was a man who intended to give in charity. So he set out and gave his charity to someone — who, unknown to him, was a thief! This incident somehow went viral in his community, with the people saying: A charity was given to a thief! When the man heard this, he said: ❛O Allah, all the praises are for you. I will give charity again (meaning, I won’t give up!).❜

And so, he set out again with his charity — but this time, he unknowingly gave it to an adulteress. This news went viral again amongst his people! Hearing this, the man said: ❛O Allah, all the praises are for you. [I gave my charity] to an adulteress. I will give charity again.❜

Not wanting to give up, the man gave charity for the third time — but that person turned out to be a wealthy man! Once again, this news went viral all over in his community. Hearing the news, he said: ❛O Allah, all the praises are for you. [I had given charity] to a thief, to an adulteress, and to a wealthy man.❜ But one night, as he was sleeping, a man came to him in his dream and gave him this good news:

🔵 ❛As for your charity to the thief, perhaps it will cause him to give up stealing. As for the adulteress, perhaps it will cause her to give up adultery. As for the wealthy person, perhaps he will learn a lesson and spend it in charity from what Allah has given him.❜ 【Sahih al-Bukhari 1421】

Notice in all three incidents, the man never complained, rather he praised Allah despite the circumstances. So do your best to ensure that your charity reaches the right people and organisations, and have faith that your good deeds will never go unnoticed by Allah, The Most Appreciative.

    Ma shaa Allah
Every time we do charity, it’s told make sure the person is deserving . This led to people not giving charity at all. After listening to this I don’t think anyone will doubt next time and In shaa Allah people will give more.

This story shows Allah is the best of planners and the most wise. People around the man were shocked at the rich man receiving money not knowing Allah allowed it to happen so that he may reflect and be able to help more people. This was a test for him individually and the people around him also received a test in where they didn't understand the wisdom behind such acts and began to wonder how such a thing could happen. If only they thought "Allah is the best of planners and the most wise".

Beautiful story! I think the take-away for me is that we never know the hikmah in something & it is our intention which perhaps goes much further than our actions.
May Allah bless us all in this beautiful month.

Masha Allah I just received confirmation. I will share my story so it can benefit the believers.

    Bismillah

A few days ago I received an email marketing campaign to fundraise for elderly people and teach them the arts as a healing mechanism against Alzheimer’s. The organization is a non Muslim non profit organization that I use to be affiliated with years ago and I have been receiving various fundraising requests from them. I would automatically delete when receiving them. Well a few days ago, something in my heart said “you keep getting these fundraising requests. Don’t delete again. Read and see. Perhaps you can support it. Remember you once worked for them and they were once a bridge in your life.”

So I listened to the internal admonition, read through it and supported it.

That night I dreamt that the President of the organization called me and mentioned Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him. When he mentioned our beloved, I made salawat in the dream and the President of the organization (a non Muslim) made salawat too as if he was repeating what I said.

I woke up and asked Allah to help me understand the dream and an internal admonition said “your charity does more than you think..”

Because I like to mainly only give to Muslim organizations, I immediately felt a light go off in my head that giving goes deeper than what we know, so we shouldn’t be narrow minded when we’re doing so (example: only giving to Muslim organizations)

This was only a few days ago within the month of Ramadan, so when you shared this story, it confirmed what that internal admonition was saying

“Giving goes deeper than you think.”

You may think you’re giving to the wrong sources that have money already, or they smoke, or whatever, but Allah knows more than you do.

Salla Allahu alayhi wassalam! Never heard of this story before! I think the message is that that man's intention was good so his charity was accepted regardless to whom he gave it and that Allah chose on purpose the thief, the immodest woman and the rich man to be the receivers of this charity . So the thief would stop stealing as Halal money came to him without any trouble. The woman would also stop earning haram income as long as Allah could send her Halal money. And maybe the rich man was stingy so Allah would teach him a lesson that he must give charity to the needy people. Allah knows best. Jazaka Allah khayran Ustad!
