The Values of Masjid Al-Aqsa (Part 2)

1. It was the ummah’s first Qibla.

Narrated Al-Bara, may Allah be pleased with him: “We prayed along with the Prophet (ﷺ) facing Jerusalem for 16 or 17 months. Then Allah ordered him to turn his face towards the Qibla (in Makkah).” [Sahih Al-Bukhari 4492] .
2. When the Prophet ﷺ was blessed with the greatest journey to meet Allah, He decreed for the Prophet to travel to Masjid Al-Aqsa first.

“Exalted is He, who took His Servant (Prophet Muhammad ﷺ) by night from Al-Masjid Al-Haram to Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa…” [Al-Isra 17:1] .
3. Prophet Suleiman ‘alayhi salaam made an amazing du’a exclusively for those who pray in Masjid Al-Aqsa.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “When Suleiman bin Dawud finished rebuilding Bait Al-Maqdis (Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa), he asked Allah for 3 things:

(1) (Every) judgement (he makes as a judge) is in harmony with Allah’s Judgement,
(2) A dominion that no one after him would have,
(3) That no one should come to this mosque, intending only to pray there, but he would emerge free of sin as the day his mother bore him.

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Two prayers were granted & I hope that the third was also granted.” [Sahih Ibn Majah 1408] .
4. An important event that happens there signifies one of the major signs of Judgment Day.

The Prophet ﷺ said that there are 6 main signs indicating the approach of the Hour & one of them is: “The conquest of Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa (by the Muslims).” [Sahih Al-Bukhari 3176] .
Do you now see the honor of Masjid Al-Aqsa? When someone asks “Why are the Muslims so upset about what’s happening there?” I want you to be sure that one of the top reasons you’re going to mention is: “I’m angry for the sake of Allah, because my faith tells me to be upset about what’s happening there.” This is from the sign of taqwa & iman. May Allah make us believers who honor Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa, ameen.
