What does barakah mean? In simple words, it means growth and protection. So for example, when we plant one seed, logically we’d expect it to grow into one tree, right? But with barakah, it will not give just one tree, but beyond our expectations – two, or even three. And the more barakah, the more trees and fruits will grow.
.
Where is the source of barakah? From Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala. This is important to remember, so that our heart is attached to Allah, and not to any other means. For example, when someone read the Qur’an over us as ruqyah when we fell ill, and we felt better afterwards – remember that the source of barakah is Allah, and not the sheikh or individual who read the Qur’an upon us. This is important for us to internalize, because when these means are no longer there or break, our hearts will not break because they remain attached only to Allah.
.
The second thing that we need to know is that the means that bring us barakah are only what Allah and His Prophet ﷺ specified, either in the Qur’an or sound ahadith. We cannot simply say that XYZ will bring barakah without any evidence from the shariah.
.
Brother and sisters in Islam, know that the maximum benefit that comes from Allah’s barakah is only for the believers who have taqwa of Allah, because Allah says:

🔵 “Had those (evil) societies (from the past) believed and were God-conscious, We would have poured upon them blessings from the heavens and earth. However, they disbelieved and were punished for what they did.” [Surah Al-A’raf 7: 96] .
This is among the Mercy of Allah upon the believers. May Allah make us firm upon iman, grant us taqwa, and shower barakah upon us in our lives, ameen.
